Music Boosters Board Meeting Minutes
Submitted by Jan Frost, Treasurer
Next meeting scheduled for March 11, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
In Attendance:
Mike Cummins, Pia and Christoph Weber, Carolyn Suazo, Nilantha Sirisoma, Anastasia Volnova, Jeanne Hoey, Malou Rogers, Angeli Menta, Karin Walin, Valerie Zverina, Isabela Weizman, Jan Frost
The meeting began at 6:30 pm.
Christoph opened the meeting. The minutes from the Jan. 8th meeting were reviewed and accepted. Jan Frost taking notes for Kathy Cranford.
Financials:
Jan distributed handouts of the latest financial report. The report was reviewed and accepted.
Fund Raiser @ Standley Middle School:
Deb Velez (nicvic007@msn.com) from Standley attended to request support for a fund raiser. Standley’s music parents were pre-selling tickets for In & Out hamburger meals to be distributed before concert on March 10th at 5:00. For $4 each, In & Out would supply a burger, chips and a drink with a maximum of 500 meals. They bring a wagon to the event and distribute the food. The group receives $3 of the sale price with the other $1 given to charity by In & Out. Deb requested our support for the event.
Rising Star Band Concert:
Jan is to go to band class on Tuesday, February 19th to begin collecting the money from students for selling tickets @ $12 each. Other ways to promote the event were discussed including posting flyers at school after receiving approval from the ASB advisor. Jeanne Hoey is to contact radio stations and other organizations such as PBS and the Reader.
Dates for upcoming concerts:
- Festival on March 6th
- Spring Concert on April 17th
- Pops Concert on May 29th
Awards Banquet:
Valerie informed us that the per plate price at Tom Hamm’s Lighthouse has gone up about $7 each. The price increase would need to be included in the price of the tickets or somehow subsidized by the UCHSMB. It was agreed that Tom Hamm’s was still the most desirable place for the banquet and that the deposit should be sent. How to fund the increased price was tabled for discussion at a subsequent meeting.
Fund raising:
Malou had posters w/ instructions for accessing web sites through a Microsoft Window Live Search to allow Microsoft to build a database. Microsoft would return ten cents per search to a charity of the user’s choice. UCHSMB has been established as a charity. Users are to go to www.searchandgive.com to conduct search. Points earned in Microsoft games can also be turned into charitable dollars.
Preparing for 2008 – 2009 school year:
Parents of incoming freshmen from Standley need to be invited to attend a regular boosters meeting.
Board positions filled:
Carolyn Suazo has volunteered to be vice-president; Jeanne Hoey as treasurer, and Kathy Cranford to remain secretary. Need a volunteer for President to complete core board positions. All positions are subject to vote by organization membership. Other positions that need filling include uniform manager; fund-raising and food coordinator.
