Music Boosters Board Meeting Minutes
Submitted by Kathy Cranford, Secretary
Next meeting scheduled for WEDNESDAY, Nov. 12, 2008 at 6:30 pm (Tuesday is a holiday)
In Attendance:
Mike Cummins, Carolyn Suazo, Jeanne Hoey, Christina Deckard, Anastasia Volnova, Linda Hempsey, Maria and Jim Raley, Will Velez, Kathy Cranford
President Carolyn Suazo opened the meeting at 6:35 pm.
Minutes:
Secretary Kathy Cranford passed out copies of the minutes from the last meeting, and they were reviewed. The minutes were accepted.
Budget:
Treasurer Jeanne Hoey passed out copies of the latest financial report and budget. We looked at what we need to do in terms of projected income. We doubled the amount needed for buses. We can zero out the budget item of the band camp potluck since we did not hold this event this year. The budget was approved.
Fundraising:
Will Velez gave a report on the sweatshirt fundraiser that Deb Velez proposed and has been working on. She has a point of contact and would like some help in organizing this fundraiser. Deb had examples of what the logo might look like. It was suggested that the students have a contest for the logo design, and the winner would receive a free sweatshirt. Everyone liked that idea. We also discussed placing a pre-order (per each family’s order), then ordering extras to be sold at concerts, especially the Holiday Concert. The suggested selling price is $25.
The idea of selling UC Centurion license plate frames at the Homecoming football game was raised. This has been done in some past years. Mr. Cummins said he would look if there are any left and also noted that the ASB advisor, Donna Thomas, would have to give approval before we sell them.
Volunteers:
We need volunteers for the Homecoming game in terms of roping off a section of the bleachers, putting in plumes, bringing water in coolers to the field, helping with uniforms, and moving equipment to the field. Call time is 5:00pm, the performance is at 6:20, and the game begins at 6:30.
Field Shows:
Reservations for the rental truck for Field Shows need to be made soon. A parent has volunteered to drive the truck, and Mr. Cummins will get that information to Carolyn. We discussed the truck size requirements. We also discussed the need to have enough volunteers for Field Shows including a field crew to move equipment onto and off of the field.
