Music Boosters Board Meeting Minutes
Submitted by John Hempsey, Vice President
Next meeting scheduled for January 12, 2010 at 6:30 pm
The meeting began at 6:35 pm.
Attendance:
Mike Cummins, John Hempsey, Belinda Textor, Jeanne Hoey, Sheri MCPherson, Ellen Goetze, Deb Velez, Christina Deckard
John Hempsey opened the meeting. There was not a copy of the November minutes available so we agreed that they will be reviewed/approved approved at the January meeting.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jeanne Hoey passed out copies of the current budget and gave a report. The coaches will be paid after the first of January. It will cost a little more now because workers comp is to be included in the total amount. Jeanne will get the correct dollar amount from Gail.
Fair share payments from winter guard are still slow coming in. Winter Guard will be a club instead of a class starting next semester. This means that Winter Guard will need a pre-approved plan that includes all planned shows and expenses; and will need funds up front before gaining approval to proceed. A suggestion was made to separate Winter Guard expenses from the overall budget. A decision will be made after Mr. Cummins reviews the Winter Guard’s plan for next semester. Mr. Cummins also mentioned that the Winter Guard needs more parent involvement. Winter Guard competitions start in March.
Jeanne mentioned that fair share payments made before the end of this calendar year can be deducted on income taxes. Mr. Cummins will make this announcement as a reminder at the concert December 17th.
Mr. Cummins will pay the Eastlake performance entry fee.
Deb Velez asked Mr. Cummins to extend the intermission at the concert so more time was available for merchandise to be sold. All proceeds go to the band! Mr. Cummins previewed the programs that will be handed out at Thursday night’s concert. Concert starts @ 7:00 pm
Next Semester:
Mr. Cummins talked about next semester some. The plans are to continue doing the programs/concerts as he normally does. With all of the cost cutting discussions at the district Mr. Cummins wants to hold off making any additional plans.
Honors Band:
Deb Velez asked if the boosters will be supporting the Honors Band. Mr. Cummins said it will depend on how many students make the honors band. Honors Band has a separate schedule and a free concert at Copley Theatre February 28th.
Spring Concert:
Date to be determined.
Pops Concert:
Date to be determined.
Awards Banquet:
Date to be determined.
Drum Covers:
Mr. Cummins announced there is a parent volunteer who is going to make new covers for the drums. The old covers need replacing badly. The Marimbas need to be reinforced to make them stronger, but there is no hurry.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
