Music Boosters Board Meeting Minutes

Submitted by Kathy Cranford, Secretary
Next meeting scheduled for November 10, 2009 at 6:30 pm

The meeting began at 6:40 pm.

Attendance:

Mike Cummins, Carolyn Suazo, John Hempsey, Jeanne Hoey, Deb Velez, Sheri McPherson, Lisa Stofan, Bill Marsh, Kazuko Kobayashi, Mike Wildez, Belinda Textor, Jim Raley, Maria Raley, Kathy Cranford

President Carolyn Suazo opened the meeting and asked everyone to review the minutes. They were reviewed and passed.

Treasurer’s Report:

Jeanne Hoey then passed out copies of the current budget and gave a summary of last year’s budget. We came in close to a balanced budget at the end of last school year and were over approximately $200. We are still waiting for the check from our Jamba Juice fundraiser. Our budget should be similar this school year. Parents can sign up for e-script to raise money for the Music Boosters when they purchase items at specified vendors. There is a change in paying coaching fees for Anastasia (Guard) and Noel (Drumline); instead of writing the checks directly to them, the school board now requires that one check/coach be written to the UCHS financial secretary (at the end of each semester) and then UCHS writes a check to each coach. We have received very few Fair Share Donations so far, especially from the Guard, so Kathy Cranford volunteered to ask Anastasia for the Guard parents’ e-mail addresses so that a reminder can be sent out. The budget was approved.

Vice-President John Hempsey reported we might need a bigger rental truck for Field Shows this year and is getting cost estimates.

Centurion Foundation:

Carolyn announced the Centurion Foundation is being re-established, and we would like to have a parent volunteer be our liaison and attend the Foundation meetings in order to represent the music program. We need to have our voices heard. Meetings are scheduled for November 4th, December 2nd, and January 6th, from 7-8:30pm. Please contact Carolyn (president @uchsmusic.com) if you are interested in becoming our liaison.

Events:

Homecoming football game: October 23rd at 3:00pm. The marching band will be performing in the stands during the game. We need parents to arrive early to rope off the band section in the stands and provide ice water for the students. Belinda Textor and Kathy Cranford volunteered to provide the ice water.

Field Show at Scripps Ranch High School: October 31st; call time 11:30am. The students will chance into their marching uniforms at school and should arrive in their Class B uniforms. The performance is at 2:30pm and the awards ceremony is at 8:00pm. If you want to pick your student up after the performance, you must give Mr. Cummins a letter 1 week in advance.

There will be a Saturday, October 24th rehearsal, from 8am-11am.

Half-time football game performance on November 6th, 2:30pm

Field Show at Mira Mesa High School: November 7th, call time 8:30am. The performance is at 10:30am.

The Holiday Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 17th.

UC Music sweatshirts are available for $30.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.
