Pep Band Playoff Update (as of 2/22/12)

On Tuesday, February 21st, the boys’ varsity basketball team lost their playoff game to La Costa Canyon High School, therefore, they are out of the playoffs. All planned pep band performances through March 2nd are cancelled and can be crossed off of your Spring Band Schedules.

Purchase an Ad or Shout-Out for the Spring Concert Program

Purchase an ad or a shout-out for the Spring concert program book and support the Music Program at the same time. Your ad or shout out will be featured in both the spring and pops concert programs. A business card size ad is $25, a half page ad is $50, and a full page ad is $100 (up to 4.3” x 7.1”). A shout out can be any of these sizes and we will include a music icon with it if you wish.

Monthly Scale Testing

During the next few months, as Concert Band and Orchestra continue to hone their festival repertoire, assessment of performance skills will continue on a smaller, more frequent scale (no pun intended). Each class recently learned about the three forms of minor scales, how to formulate them in steps starting with the root of the key, and have been assigned another online video submission of the performance of a set of scales on a monthly basis. This month’s keys in which we’ll be testing are Concert B-flat, Concert F, and Concert C. Written sheet music of each form of minor scale can be found in the Orchestra and Band Download pages. I’m proud to announce that we have 19 Centurions that made their respective honor groups; a higher number than we’ve ever had before! Congratulations go to the following students:
